Bear. The Coffee Roasters

SLOTH BEAR [Speciality Decaf]

£9.50

No longer named after the Warner Bro's London Bear...

Chocolate // Orange // Bright and Sweet

All the Flavour, ~0.4% caffeine (less than chocolate...!)

After a very British and polite exchange with Warner Bros legal team, we are please to introduce the exact same coffee, renamed Sloth Bear! For those who want coffee, but also sleep.

This special blend hails from the fertile lands of Colombia, brought to life using the innovative Mountain Water Process and is crafted with the same love and care we give to all of our caffeinated coffees.

Decaf has got much better since the dark days of chemical and CO2 processing.

The Modern "Mountain Water Process", carried out by the highly skilled Descamex, retains the beans' inherent flavour and quality while filtering out the caffeine. This method not only preserves the taste but also ensures that the water, enriched with the beans' profile, can be reused, highlighting their commitment to sustainability.

In your cup, you'll find a sweet blend of chocolate and orange notes, underpinned by a brightness that's truly enchanting. Despite its dark and slightly oily appearance, this is not a "dark roasted" coffee. This is actually due to the decaffeination process weakening the shell of the bean meaning that it takes on colour more easily during the roast. The change in cellular formation affects the transfer of heat from our roaster to the bean, meaning we roast it completely differently.

Brewing: Paddington is a super versatile blend. It shines as a double espresso, transforming with milk into a creamy, chocolatey delight that echoes the comfort of childhood mornings, and as a pour-over, it reveals a clarity and complexity, vindicating  decaf coffee and standing proudly alongside its caffeinated counterparts.
